Creative People I Know #2

It's with great pleasure that I introduce you to the epitome of good manners, Miss Bec.

Name: Miss Bec

Based: Brisbane

Profession & how long: Marketing 8.30am-5.00pm, Social Skills/Social Etiquette Advocate 24/7

What creative projects are consuming you atm: My social etiquette blog Social Sugar (www.socialsugar.com.au); a social etiquette column for The Village News, and a potential new venture involving teaching social skills and manners to primary school children. I am so, so excited!

What mediums do you source your inspiration from: Charismatic, warm people, girlfriends, my lovely aunt Mary, my dog Molly (she advocates unconditional love),
Audrey Hepburn, other blogs, communication books, songs with gorgeous lyrics - anything by Paul Simon, Sweet Thing by Van Morrison, etc.

Favorite recent internet discovery: www.galadarling.com This woman is AMAZING. You'll feel better having spent just 1 minute on her site.

Love: People who truly listen, who are warm, and who are respectful.

Loathe: Classless, immoral sports 'heroes'

What are you reading: I regularly go between every communication and people skills book you can name.

3 people for a Dream dinner date: My mum, Oprah, and Bernard Fanning (couldn't help myself with the latter, tee hee hee).

Plug yourself: It sounds odd to say, but I believe I was put here to encourage and to show people how to treat others well. In our schooling we're taught how to add, how to spell, how to kick a ball, etc, but we're not explicitly taught how to make friends, or how to be a good one, or how to hold proper, interesting conversations. I meet tonnes of people who don't really know how to socialise, and I really hope that I can be the person who can help 'catch them up' on their people skills. There's a saying that 'good manners will open doors that the best education cannot' and I believe that the exact same applies to people skills too. xxx
